How else is the ancient biblical definition of Deity harmful to true spiritual growth?

Along with other so-called orthodox "holy books", the ancient definitions of Deity also include a war-god spin. The idea that The Universal Force Of Life could or would condone and even champion military adventures such as the biblical folk tales about the conquest of Canaan by the Israelites.
The fall of Jerico, the merciless massacre at Ai, the military victories of Moses during the exodus and other legends about death and destruction of innocent civilians by legendary killer heros are all represented as being favored by these ancient peoples' concept of god. Yahweh was a war god, first and foremost.

Killer heros like Sampson, Saul and David are honored in these legendary traditions as being the "favorites" of their god. Yet, archaeological and other scientific forms of modern investigation prove without question that these events never actually occured in history. They are fabrications and distortions devised by socio-pathic theologians to justify the conquest of other peoples lands. Not to mention the plunder of their cattle and personal property.

In a single word, these concepts, connected with their definition of Deity, are nothing less that sick!

Still, our culture is rife with children's books and more adult forms of literature along side the biblical narratives that continue to imprint these spiritually hurtful attitudes on generation after generation. Unfortunately, it encourages war, conquest and military occupation on a constantly recurring basis.

The tragic treatment of the Palestinian people is a classic example of this. So is the illegal occupation of Iraq where our current puppet president went on record as declaring "God is on our side" in this immoral devestation of a sovereign state on trumped up charges. And the tragic aside is that many Americans actually believed him conditioned as they are with the attitudes of biblical folklore.

This travesty to truth needs to be ended. It's as simple as that. Our spiritual health is on the line.
